Shopping Style Clothing Reviews I’m a Target-Obsessed Shopping Writer, and These $28 Dress Pants Saved Me During a 15-Hour Work Day Somehow, they’re as comfortable as sweatpants. Real Simple's Editorial Guidelines Published on August 9, 2024 01:00PM EDT Photo: Real Simple / Target I love creating looks that make me feel put together, but I have a confession: I don’t love wearing stiff pants. Jeans are obviously not as easy to move in as comfy leggings or pull-on linen pants, and until a recent find, I had even worse things to say about dress pants. But then I found the ultimate pair of slacks at Target, and I’m shocked by how much I love wearing them. When I wandered into Target a few weeks ago, I wasn’t searching for anything specific, which is when my mom always says you find exactly what you never knew you needed—and she was right. I stumbled upon the A New Day Cropped Kick Flare Pull-On Pants, and was thrilled that they looked as great as I was imagining. What I didn’t expect was for these dress pants to feel as comfortable as pajamas, but they do. A New Day Cropped Kick Flare Pull-On Pants Target $28 at Target I’ve planned weddings part-time for more than a decade, and I only like to wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. The 68 percent rayon, 28 percent nylon, and 4 percent spandex fabric makeup of the pants stood out to me the most: The combination made the style feel lightweight and fantastic to wear in almost 100-degree heat. Plus, the cropped length was perfect on my 5-foot-2-inch frame and made the pants feel cooler simply because they’re shorter. In terms of styling, I have to admit I was slightly nervous about the slacks’ pull-on design. I worried they wouldn’t feel as professional, but I’m happy to share that I was wrong. The elastic waist is what made these pants so comfortable to wear during two back-to-back 15-hour wedding days, and I loved that I could tuck a cute blouse into the pants and not have to worry about adding a belt. The seams that run down the length of the pants added interest and dressed them up even more—love. The kick flare pants are available in three colors (black, clay-like brown, and teal green) in sizes XS to 4X, and I find they run true to size. I’m obsessed with the black pair I purchased on a whim because they fit well, don’t pick up lint throughout the day, and even allow me to skip the dry cleaner because they’re machine washable. It’s not often that I can say I still love something even after spending 30 hours wearing it, but the A New Day Cropped Kick Flare Pull-On Pants are different.
